Mezzosoprano LINDA HIRST's international career spans an extraordinary breadth. It includes early music, ground-breaking Baroque performances, an international specialism in new music, working closely with Berio, Ligeti, Henze, MacMillan, Weir and giving many world premieres. She was a Swingle Singer and founder of Electric Phoenix, worked with Pink Floyd and The Two Ronnies, performed at the Proms, Edinburgh Festival, Glyndebourne and Covent Garden. From 1995 she has been Head of Voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoiro of Music and Dance, training and inspiring new generations of singers. Her programme embraces these extremes, illustrating a unique life of performance and creativity.
She is joined by pianist ANDREW WEST. Andrew received the inaugural Gerald Moore Award for Accompanists; he was for several years official accompanist at the Chicago's Ravinia Festival. Partnerships with leading singers include Alice Coote, Florian Boesch, James Gilchrist, Christopher Purves, and Roderick Williams; major Festival performances include Aldeburgh, Bath, Cheltenham and Edinburgh. He appears regularly with Mark Padmore, with recitals throughout Europe and in New York, including staged performances of Winterreise. He is one of the artistic directors of the Nuremberg International Chamber Music Festival.
We are blessed with the support of Villandry, who are kindly donating the canapés during the recital and catering the post recital supper, with the artists.
