We do hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us at our APCM on 17th May at 10.30 am to learn more about how the church is run, how our finances work, how important decisions about our worship are made, what we do outside the Sunday services and finally, how our new building project is progressing!
There will be a slightly shortened Eucharist at 9.30 am, followed by the meeting in church at 10.30 am. Coffee will be served at the back of church, and we shall be providing a crèche for children in the School Hall during the meeting. Please let Martina know HERE if you wish to attend the meeting. Choral Matins will also be slightly shortened, and will begin after the meeting ends around 11.30 am. |
At the meeting we will be electing members of the Parochial Church Council. Although the Vicar is pastorally and practically responsible for the church’s ministry, supported by the other clergy and the parish staff team, the Wardens and the members of the PCC play a vital role in the governance of the church as financial Trustees who have oversight of all expenditure, and who are also responsible for promoting the mission of the church, and for ensuring the maintenance of its buildings. We aim to have PCC members from all our different Sunday services, who should be as representative of the makeup of our congregations as possible. If you think you might have skills which could help, or time you could give to supporting the church, please do speak to one of the clergy HERE.
We shall also be looking for representatives for the Deanery Synod, which is part of our church’s contribution to the wider Church of England. This group meets a few times a year and acts as an intermediary body between the parishes and the Diocesan Synod. We are looking to appoint new members to represent St Mary Abbots so if you think you might have something to offer its deliberations, and would be interested in learning more about the role of the Deanery Synod you can find out more about the role on the Diocesan website HERE. Please speak to one of the clergy HERE if you would be interested in representing us.
