Message From the Upper Room
The past 12 months have been the busiest ever at The Upper Room, with our Meals team regularly serving over 150 meals a day to disadvantaged men and women of all ages and backgrounds. This includes individuals and families who are not necessarily homeless, but who are struggling to feed themselves without charity support.
Remarkably, almost all of the supplies we need to provide this service are provided to us through donations. We receive regular deliveries of surplus fresh food from City Harvest and The Felix Project, as well as top-ups funded by supporters such as Chiswick Cheese Market. But we also need significant quantities of non-perishable items – and that’s where our harvest appeal comes in. With the support of churches like yours, we are able to fill our shipping container with enough supplies to last an entire year. Non-food items Please note that we also very keen to receive non-food items such as toiletries, sleeping bags and underwear. Demand for these is currently at unprecedented levels. |
