Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday
The week begins with a reflection at each of our Midday Eucharist services, reflecting Jesus's teaching in the temple, as his enemies plot to kill him.
12 noon: Holy Eucharist with Devotional address
Maundy Thursday Services
On Maundy Thursday we remember and enact together the scenes of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, sharing in the Last Supper, and finally, being abandoned to the emotional silence of the Garden of Gethsemane, as the choir chants Psalm 22: “My God, my God, why have your forsaken me?” The lights in the church are turned off, the altar is stripped of all its hangings and following an hour’s Vigil in the Resurrection Chapel, we leave the church bare and in darkness as we remember that Jesus endured a night time trial and imprisonment.

Good Friday Services
On Good Friday Jesus hung upon the Cross from 12 noon to 3 in the afternoon. We begin our observation of those hours at 12 noon with an hour of hymns and reflections, followed by half an hour of silence. At 1.30 pm, we offer the Liturgy of Good Friday, as the wooden Cross is borne up to the chancel, and the Story of the Passion is sung by the choir. Any consecrated wafers left from Maundy Thursday are consumed by the congregation, and the light above the aumbry where the consecrated bread is stored, is blown out, to symbolise Jesus’ lying in the Tomb. At 4 pm, we hold a service of the Stations of the Cross for children, which tells the whole story in a child-accessible way, ending with hot cross buns!
