Supporting St Mary Abbots' work and MinistryDespite Covid-19 and its devastating effect there is still a lot to celebrate in our church life. Having put Covid-19 safety measures in place we have been able to hold many services, and even a few concerts, during 2020. When it became necessary to close the church we have been able to offer on-line services and assemblies. It is thanks to the generosity of members of our congregation and supporters that we have been able to continue with our ministry and to provide music from our professional choir. We have also welcomed new worshippers, young and not so young into the church and had many past members join us during our online services.
However maintaining the life and ministry of St Mary Abbots costs on average £9,900 each week, which in normal years comes from the generosity of our congregation and donations from visitors. We receive no subsidy whatsoever from the Government or other statutory bodies. This money goes towards Sunday and weekly worship, special services at Christmas, Easter and of Remembrance, the ministry of the sick, the bereaved and all pastoral care, the running of children's groups and community groups, as well as towards the maintenance of our beautiful building. |
Any donation that you are able to make to the church, whether a one off donation or regular payment, will make a huge difference to the life of the church and will be gratefully received.

Become a Regular Giver:
Why is Regular Giving is important?
Although we raise money in a number of ways, by far the most reliable, and most proper for our Christian community, is planned, pledged and regular giving. The work of the church continues day by day, week by week, month by month – and it has to be paid for on this basis.
Without this income, our Church would not survive. The money we receive covers not only the upkeep of the church building, but our day-to-day costs, from the wages of our stipends to the glue, sellotape and arts and crafts materials used by the children at the Sunday school.
In this challenging economic climate, we are less able to rely on other income. These other sources of income are also unfortunately not as substantial as they once were (for example, the amount of interest we get on historic bequests).

One off donations:
If you’re still lucky enough to receive a bonus at work, or perhaps have had a win on the lottery, lump-sum or one-off donations remain very welcome! People sometimes chose to donate as a single thanks-offering after baptisms, confirmations, charity event or service which is always very welcome.
