At St Mary Abbots we're delighted to baptise children; indeed, we baptise people of any age - babies, toddlers, children, adults - who wish to join the Christian Church and have not previously been baptised.
As set out by the Church of England rules we are allowed to baptise those who have a Qualifying Connection: those that live in our geographical parish, who have a family connection to the church (such as a close family member was baptised, confirmed or married here), or for those who worship with us regularly and are on our church Electoral Roll. |

We normally hold a monthly Baptism Eucharist on the 2nd Sunday of every month at 9.30 am, but not during Lent or Advent. We believe that Baptism proclaims two great truths:
That God knows, loves and cares for the person being baptised. That baptism enters the candidate into the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We only offer baptisms during the 9.30 am Sunday service so that our church community is present and involved in the welcome and support of this newly baptised Christian, and their friends and family. We will of course arrange an Emergency Baptism for those who need it. To explore the possibility of being baptised at St Mary Abbots, in the first instance contact the clergy or the vicarage office HERE. |
