Volunteering to help with 'Children on Sundays'
The volunteers are provided with age appropriate material for their particular session, including the story and some craft or activity suggestions and necessary printouts. For the Under 5s Group song sheets are also available.
Before being included on the rota, all volunteers are required to undertake a free DBS check for the purposes of child protection. This simply requires you to complete a few forms and to provide certain specific identification documents. This can all be done at church on an agreed Sunday before or after the service. A basic online safeguarding training is provided by the church and must be completed before joining the rota. |
How to volunteer
Please contact Martina if you wish to join the volunteers (click the name to email), who can explain how to volunteer in more detail.
Child Protection Paperwork and ID verification
Under Diocesan child protection guidelines, we need you to complete three forms and then arrange a suitable Sunday to meet with our Children’s Advocate (Martina) to show her the specified identification documents as set out below:
1. The Confidential Declaration
This is a simple tick box form for you to print, complete and bring with you when you meet Martina to show your identification documents. Click here>>.
2. The Personal Details Form
The Diocese does not keep any copy of the DBS applications so this is the record of your details in case they need to contact you regarding your application.
This form also requires you to provide the name and contact details for two non-family referees.
Please print and complete this form and bring it with you when you meet Martina
3. The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application
This application is to be completed by you online. Martina will give you the relevant notes and online access information to guide you through the process.
