Flower Arranging Group
The beautiful flower displays in the church are created by volunteers who kindly give up part of their Friday or Saturday afternoons to put together these wonderful arrangements . Without them the church would look a good deal less beautiful so we can only thank them for their time and efforts! As you can see from the photographs they are quite spectacular.
If you would like to become one of our flower arrangers please let Leonora know on pa@stmaryabbots.org.uk. One of our most experienced flower arrangers has agreed to teach anyone who would like to join the flower arranger group where things are in the vestry, where to buy flowers from and, if needed, a quick lesson on how to arrange the flowers. Leonora will talk you through how to claim expenses (and how much), introduce you to the others, and add you to the rota. Sometimes there will be a particular colour that needs to predominate, and some weeks flowers are not needed if there is a wedding or special events. There are no flowers needed over Lent or at Christmas as the crib is in the flower stand area.
We would also like to give a huge thank the Flower Corner, based outside the entrance to the church, for all their generous arrangements that they provide for all our major festivals such as The Patronal Festival and Remembrance Sunday. The church this year at Christmas looked particularly splendid with masses of poinsettias, large amounts of greenery on nearly every surface and a beautiful huge Christmas tree donated by them.
